Information and tips
We stay in good category hotels (3 or 4 stars) in Istanbul and Ankara, at the beginning and at the end of the tour and in "pensions" and comfortable hotels in Cappadocia and elsewhere. During mountain stays, we provide spacious double tents (1 tent for 2 persons), mattresses and all camping gear needed (mess-tent for the evening, kitchen tent, cooking utensils, cutlery, plates etc.). Campsites are selected according the natural beauty of the site and the presence of drinking water. Clients must bring their own sleeping bags and personal mountain equipment. On boat cruises we sleep in cabins or out on deck if weather permits; bed-linen and towels provided.
An English-speaking guide from Dijon Travel team leads the group. We will have a private minibus with driver. A cook at campsites, and mules and mule drivers for luggage are provided when necessary.
We eat Turkish meals in restaurants and at camp, prepared with local products. Sometimes we will have a picnic lunch which each participant will carry in his day bag. For mountain treks we provide snacks.
All transfers are by private minibus. Transportation in mountain areas is made by appropriate vehicles (4 wheel drive or tractor) or by pack animals.
Of course we ensure all aspects of your trip respect the recommended public health and sanitary guidelines. All transport is at half-capacity seating to ensure secure social distancing.
A daypack is needed to carry the items you want to use during the daytime: camera, pullover, water-bottle. Walking boots, open lightweight shoes or a pair of trainers, shorts/skirts, gloves, hat, casual clothes, rain/wind jacket, water bottle, personal medicine-box, sun cream etc.
No technical difficulty during trekking and ascension. Walks are on good trails. Duration of the walks vary depending on days and tours: the average is about 5/6 hours per day.
