Itinerary: 15 days :
Day 1: ISTANBUL
Meet at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
Day 2-3: ISTANBUL
Discover this legendary city, old Constantinople, set on 2 continents and take the time to see some of Istanbul’s most important sites.
Day 3 – 6: CAPPADOCIA
3 days of hiking in the most beautiful canyons and valleys unique in the world. During our stay our principal halts will be the valleys of Ihlara, Pasabag, Devrent and Pigeon Valley which offered refuge to many civilisations. Rock formations out of a land rise up before you at every turn and entice you to look longer and wonder at their creation. Goreme, Güzelyurt, Uchisar: the cave dwellings villages, which were the centres of the development of Christianity. We will visit churches and chapels decorated with bright paintings and frescoes, ancient remains of exceptional interest. We spend all nights in comfortable pensions in Cappadocia.
Day 7-8: KONYA, PAMUKKALE
We then leave the area of Cappadocia behind and drive to Konya, known as ‘Iconium’ in Roman times, was also the capital of the Seljuk Turks from the 12th to 13th Centuries and home of Mevlana.
Pamukkale is one of the most interesting places in the world, justly famous not only for the entrancing beauty of its unique geological formations but also for its historical remains. The well-preserved theatre of Hierapolis commands magnificent view of the plain below.
Day 9: EPHESUS
Drive to Ephesus and visit. This is the most important city of Antiquity and one of the highlights of any visit of Turkey. Visit the St-John basilica and the Isa bey mosque from the Seljuk period.
Excurison to a typical Turkish village with possibility to taste its local wine.
Day 11 -12: FETHIYE
Visit the Greek ghost town of Kayakoy and relax at the blue lagoon of Ölüdeniz, a nice spot where it is a pleasure to swim. Enjoy a daily boat trip (public) through islands of Fethiye gulf.
Day 13-14: ANTALYA
Discover the Saklikent gorge and the picturesque city of Antalya with its ancient Roman walled port, and the lovely ‘old town’, Kaleici, with its beautifully restored Ottoman mansions and Hadrian’s Gate.
Day 15: RETURN
Drive to the airport for the return flight
